The 101 On Golden Milk & Why You Should Be Drinking It

I think people get seriously weirded out when you suggest drinking Turmeric. It just doesn’t come across as something you relate to snuggling up with your favorite mug under a cozy blanket. But you couldn’t be more wrong!!!

Ok let’s go back before we go forward, back to the basics. Turmeric is a herbaceous plant from the ginger family. It originated in Southern Asian and thrives in pretty warm climates. Turmeric is probably best known for it’s vibrant orange color. But what it’s really used most for is its medicinal benefits!

Turmeric is filled with compounds, and one in particular has pretty strong benefits. The compound called curcumin is the main active ingredient in Turmeric and has insanely high anti inflammatory effects. SOOOOOOOO many aches and pains we feel are caused by a type of inflammation. Even diseases have been shown to have direct relationships with inflammation of many sorts.

On top of all that, Turmeric is quite the antioxidant. Antioxidants protect our body from free radicals, which are one of the main drivers of aging and disease. Not only does Turmeric contain antioxidant properties that can neutralize these free radicals, but it also increases our body’s own antioxidant enzyme activity. It basically gives you a big does of antioxidant benefits from 2 fronts!
